Zhongyuan Institute of Science and Technology

The Zhongyuan Institute of Science and Technology (ZIST) is a public welfare college officially recognized by the Ministry of Education to offer full-time undergraduate programs. Originally established as Xinlian College of Henan Normal University in 2003, the institution was renamed ZIST following approval by the Ministry of Education in February 2021. ZIST operates across two campuses—Zhengzhou and Xuchang—spanning a total area of approximately 3,504 Mu (23 million Square Metres). The college currently serves over 29,000 full-time students, with a planned enrollment capacity of 46,810.

In the 2021 China Top Private Colleges List by Airuishen Alumni Network (cuaa.net), ZIST ranked 31st, the highest position in its category in Henan.

Aligned with its focus on being "application-oriented, localized, and internationalized," ZIST continuously optimizes its academic structure, including subjects, colleges, and majors. The institution refines its educational characteristics to enhance its adaptability and integration with economic and social development, actively promoting high-quality development in higher education for the new era. ZIST offers 44 undergraduate programs and 26 three-year programs across seven disciplines: literature, science, engineering, economics, management, education, and art.

Six majors, including Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, English, and International Economy and Trade, are recognized as first-class undergraduate programs in Henan Province. Additionally, eight majors, such as Radio and Television Directing, Material Forming and Control Engineering, Preschool Education, and Musicology, have been designated as "Brand Major Construction Sites" for private colleges in the province. Among the teaching staff, 86.8% hold master’s or doctoral degrees, and 30.5% have senior professional titles. Over 60 teachers have also been honored with titles such as "Backbone Teachers of Henan Province."

We focus on training high-level, application-oriented professionals with integrity, skills, and expertise who are well-prepared for employment, entrepreneurship, advanced studies, and ongoing development. To support this, we have established long-term partnerships with 155 enterprises and institutions for off-campus practices. In recent years, we have conducted over 1,000 scientific research projects. Our students have excelled, winning 118 awards in national class A discipline competitions. Additionally, we have won the group first prize in the national "Higher Education Cup" College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition for four consecutive years, making us the only private college in China to achieve this distinction.
